Last Week and Yearbook Day

Hey y’all! I’m back for our last week together! Baby Bethany is doing well, but I’ve missed you guys!

We’re going to have a Zoom meeting on Tuesday at 1pm to check in with each other and talk about our theme projects. I’m thinking we’ll just talk on Tuesday, but then probably Wednesday share our Theme Projects with one another and see if we can’t hammer down at least a general idea of what we’re liking for the yearbook theme for next year.

Speaking of yearbooks, I’m sure you’re super curious as to what the deal is with ours! The Balfour plant was shut down while Dallas was doing Shelter in Place. They opened this past Monday and have gotten hard at work getting our books printed. Since we were done with our book by Spring Break we were one of the first in line to get our books. Right now our books are set to get to school on 6/23 or 6/24. We’re going to have a drive-through yearbook day at the front of the school on 6/25. If y’all can be there, I’d love to have you come help! We’ll wear masks and gloves and practice social distancing, but we can still have a blast! Our t-shirts have come in, which we can wear, and we can decorate with streamers and balloons and things. Covid can’t steal all our fun! We can talk about it more on Zoom. 🙂 In the meantime, just make sure you have a good handle on your Theme Project.

Weekly Assignments:

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that FWISD is making the push to get all classes on distance learning. Your core classes are on Edgenuity, but, since this is an elective course, you’ll find the assignments below (same one I sent you a week or two ago). Remember, you’re creating a potential Theme for next year’s yearbook (instructions/Theme Project Packet below).

At the end of every week you will fill out this Google Form explaining/showing what you worked on. The filling out of this form every week will be what your grade is made up of:

While I’m out on Maternity Leave, Coach Penix will be in charge of your grading. If you have any questions you can email her at Julianne.Penix@fwisd.org.

Hey, y’all!

Well, if we were at school, we’d be starting to plan for next year’s yearbook by working on our Theme Project. Obviously we’re not at school and are unlikely to return any time soon. That being said, I wanted to make the Theme Projects available to you in case you wanted to work on them at home. It is not mandatory, but could be a little fun, creative outlet in the midst of shelter-in-place.

If we were at school, we’d first sketch all your ideas on this packet (below) and then actually design them on the computers. We don’t have a way for you to get on InDesign at home, but you can at least sketch ideas of what you’d like to see in next year’s book.

We would take several days/weeks on this if we were at school, so don’t feel like you’ve got to rush through it or anything.
